"It was wonderful to see old friends and make new ones at the conference," said Muggerud. "The reception to GoodHealthTV® was extremely positive—conference participants agreed it was an efficient and exciting way to positively impact the health of tribal members." GoodHealthTV® is an Internet-based, subscription health television service for American Indians and other minority groups. About 50 tribes across Indian Country are currently using the service inside clinics, hospitals and community colleges. National Colorectal Cancer Awareness MonthMarch is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
Colorectal cancer affects both men and women of all racial and ethnic groups, and is most often found in people aged 50 years or older. For men, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer after prostate and lung cancers. For women, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer after breast and lung cancers. Colon cancer, when discovered early, is highly treatable. Colorectal cancer screening saves lives. Screening can find precancerous polyps—abnormal growths in the colon or rectum—so that they can be removed before turning into cancer. Screening also helps find colorectal cancer at an early stage, when treatment often leads to a cure. For more information visit www.ccalliance.org |
